Abstract

Relatively little is known about the effects of water arsenic (As) and non-malignant respiratory outcomes among individuals exposed to low-to-moderate levels of As or without skin lesion. In a population-based study, using follow-up data in the Health Effects of Arsenic Longitudinal Study (HEALS) cohort, we found that As exposure from drinking water was significantly related to pulmonary infections, impaired lung function, incident and mortality from obstructive lung diseases.
