Abstract

In this letter, the principles for controlling the saturation inductance of toroidal transformers by leaving unwound sectors are presented. It is shown that inrush currents can be reduced substantially with this technique. This concept is supported by finite-element simulations, transient analyses, and laboratory experiments.
