Abstract

The Prioritized Layered Projection (PLP) technique algorithm was developed to optimize the rendering of high depth complexity scenes by rendering an estimation of the visible set. The technique is based on computing on demand a priority order for the polygons that maximizes the likelihood of rendering visible polygons before occluded ones for any given scene. Experimental evidence of its performance and a discussion of the extensions to the algorithm are provided.
