Abstract

Textile reinforced alkali-activated mortars (TRAAM) constitute a new family of composite materials that combines the high mechanical performance of textile reinforced mortars (TRM) with the eco-friendly nature of alkali-activated materials (AAM). Moreover, the utilization of carbon fibers in TRAAM is likely to promote the fire endurance of the developed composite. This study investigates the mechanical performance of carbon-TRAAM specimens after exposure to high temperatures (maximum 600°C). The performance of the TRAAM specimens is compared to the performance of cementitious TRM specimens. The results indicate that carbon-TRAAM are a promising solution for the structural retrofitting and fire resistance upgrade of existing structures.
