Abstract

Researchers present rig animation with a tangible and modular input device. They have developed a novel and modular tangible input device for digital character animation. The device consists of joints and splitter parts which can be use used by a first-time user. The new user can assemble the parts into a skeleton that allows for the positioning or posing of any digital character. The approach combines hardware with sophisticated software and an optimization algorithm suggests compact device configurations to the user.
