Abstract

A server-based information retrieval system is outlined that fully capitalizes on the resources of its clients for fast processing. A simulation model is developed for the system, a simulation package is implemented, and several experiments are run. The major result is that the proposed architecture offers high throughput rates under many workstations for light update loads. The role of key system parameters is examined as well.
