Abstract

The corrective actions taken by Donald Pump, an Ecco's visitor, to overcome the problems of adversible climatic conditions, when he built ice rinks in southern California is discussed. The climatic conditions forced him to resurface the ice frequently which resulted in loosing the existing customers. To solve this problem he reinvented an ice resurfacer which reduced the time to half. It is stated that a continuous improvement of machine and method is needed to minimize the time of production and to improve productivity.
