Abstract

Soft handoff performances of 3-sector and 6-sector CDMA systems are compared using simulation results. Within typical environmental conditions and handoff parameters, the 6-sector system has larger total soft handoff percentages and mean numbers of active set updates, but the 3-sector system has higher mean numbers of BS utilization and pertains higher diversity gains.
