STRENGTH OF BIAXIALLY LOADED RECTANGULAR HOLLOW STRUCTURAL SECTION BEAM COLUMNS.

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Equations are derived for determination of the strength of rectangular beam columns subjected to uniaxial bending. For biaxial bending, an improved exponential interaction equation is given. The correct exponent is worked out and the proposed equations are shown to be very close and only slightly conservative approximations of the theoretical limiting strength of sections. The proposed equations are applicable for compact square and rectangular hollow structural section beam columns.
