Abstract
We show that only a restricted class of N = 1 four-dimensional curvature terms are compatible with super-Kähler geometry. The scaling properties required from Kähler invariance in order to be compatible with local supersymmetry in higher-derivative interactions are shown in the case of superstrings to be related to the global scale invariance of the ten-dimensional effective action.
