Abstract
This article explores the formation of a task force to address the specific issues that confront dentists who treat patients with disabilities. From the first meeting, this all-volunteer task force, with representatives from clinical dentistry, public health groups, hospitals and dental schools, set out to recognize the specific issues that arise with special needs patients and offer workable solutions. This article enumerates these issues, and can serve as a reference for dentists and other health professionals.
