    Abstract

We report on the development and implementation of an improved algorithm for extracting text in digitized color video, by utilizing multi-frame edge information. The algorithm is based on the novel text extraction algorithm we previously developed for extracting text from individual still video frames. By incorporating multi-frame edge information into the algorithm, we are able to reduce false detections significantly in video with complex and textured background. This further increases the precision of the previous algorithm.
