Abstract
Historically analyzes the impact of the Petroleum Development (Oman) Company and Western legal, economic, bureaucratic forces on the Bedouin of central Oman. This impact was complex. Economically they exhibited great adaptability but the oil company established administrative boundaries, territorial rights, and selected tribal elders. This tended to ossify once fluid associations.-D.J.Marsden(CDS)
