note = "Funding Information: Plasmodium vivax Plasmodium berghei Gene sequence tag projects Malaria The Malaria Genome Project is an international program to sequence the complete genome of the human malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum . Sequencing and genome analyses are ongoing in three centers: The Institute for Genomic Research (TIGR)/Naval Medical Research Institute (MD, USA), the Sanger Centre (Cambridge, UK) and Stanford University (Stanford, CA, USA). Current status of the project may be viewed at http://www.sanger.ac.uk/Projects/P_falciparum/ . In addition, funding has been made available for research into other aspects of Plasmodium genomics. At the University of Florida, we have obtained funding through the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health (NIH) for the preparation of two sequence-tagged, BLAST-indexed sets of 10 000 clones from P. vivax (a second malaria parasite of humans), and a rodent model of malaria, P. berghei . These reagents and associated sequence data constitute a unique resource and research database for the malaria community as a whole. ",
