The role of topology in large deviations

Abstract

In the theory of Large Deviations one usually has a family of probability measures on some space with a topology. In most cases there is a natural choice for the space and the topology. But once in a while one has to make a choice that is a bit unusual, which is motivated by the application one has in mind. We will give two such examples.
