Abstract

A guiding goal of the (US) Oral History Association’s Metadata Task Force has been to develop a set of assessment and planning tools helpful for colleagues working on all types of oral history projects, across diverse settings. As a founding member of the OHA MTF, archivist Lauren Kata will walk through the group’s recently launched metadata assessment toolkit. The paper will discuss the value of considering metadata selection outside of software and systems, which can often limit the goal of enhanced understanding about both content and context of oral history interviews.
