Abstract
A method is proposed for obtaining large non-equilibrium spin polarizations of liquid **3He. Calculations based on spin transfer between a substrate and the liquid **3He via the solid **3He layer at the interface show a faster liquid polarization rate when insulators are used as a substrate rather than metals.
