Abstract
This article reviews thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) available on the market their properties, processing conditions, application field, and prices. The most important markets for TPE are - automotive, spurred largely by the tightening safety laws; extrusion jacketing and tubing; footwear (hard as well as canvas soles, including the molding of one-piece soles and heels); fabric coverings that can be either calendered, extruded, adhesive-laminated or conventionally solution-coated; heat-sealed 2-3 mil motor-oil pouches; gears, casters, and fittings in textile equipment to help reduce noise levels; tubing and film for medical/pharmaceutical uses; and mechanical goods.
