Abstract

We survey selected topics in topological quantum computing. The article is written with the aim of offering new insights to experts in parts, while simultaneously serving as a base reference for those who are newcomers or otherwise. Particular emphasis is placed on introducing anyons and their key characteristics as the emergent properties of localized superselection sectors.
