Abstract
We report an extensive study of conventional tunnel junctions with Pb counterelectrodes on cleaved ab planes of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 single crystals with natural barriers. A two-gap structure has been observed for high quality fresh junctions: the inner gap Δ1(T) is BCS-like, the outer gap ΔA0(T) is not BCS-like. The fitted outer gap Δo(0)=26 meV, and 2Δo(0)/kTc-6.7. For older junctions only a smooth conductance with a broadened single gap shows up.
