Abstract
John O’Brien is a PhD candidate in sociology at UCLA. His research uses ethnographic methods to study the workings of culture, religion, race, and identity at the level of everyday social life. His dissertation project explores the daily lives and cultural dilemmas of a group of Muslim American youth growing up in an American city. An article from this project was published in Social Psychology Quarterly.
Besheer Mohamed received his PhD from the Department of Sociology at the University of Chicago. His dissertation examines the relationship between religious identity and social attitudes among American Muslims. He also earned a master’s degree in Middle East Studies from the University of Chicago.
