Abstract
The construction and performance of a water Cherenkov counter designed to detect neutrino reactions in 6000 1 of H//2O or D//2O is described. The detector has a yield of 5. 3 photoelectrons/MeV and a resolution sigma equals 12% at energies around 40 MeV.
